“I was inspired by traditional game tables,” Shea notes of the Orla Dining Table she uses to anchor the entryway in our McGee & Co. Spring shoot. If you have an entryway space that’s large enough to hold a round table with enough clearance to be able to walk all the way around, start in the center, Shea suggests, when planning out the space’s design.
In the middle of the table bring in an element of height, “then we’ll start to create groupings around,” Shea explains in the video below. “I usually use a rectangular rug to fill the volume of the floorplan,” adds Shea, but multiple rug shapes can be used depending on the layout of your entryway. Add a “basket, or an ottoman or two,” beneath that table to bring in a sense of warmth, “even though I know you won’t be sitting down at this table,” Shea laughs. A sculptural, woven light hanging overhead finishes the space. Explore the room deeper below and shop elements of the space to get the look in your own home.
